Answers to Our F.A.Q.’s
01. WHERE WILL OUR SESSION TAKE PLACE AND AT WHAT TIME?
We always recommend an in home session for your newborn so you are the most comfortable. Actual timing will depend on your child’s nap time as we are looking for a sleepy baby if possible to capture those oh so sweet newborn moments. We also have you look around your home to see what time the natural window light is at is brightest.
05. WHEN SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY NEWBORN SESSION?
We recommend scheduling your baby’s session within one week from their date of birth and no later than 2 weeks after.
03. WHICH COLLECTION WOULD BE A GOOD FIT FOR OUR FAMILY?
If you are looking for a more relaxed and candid session, we suggest going with one of the full digital image collections. These sessions allow for more time, which in turn allows us to have a more relaxed lifestyle session. The Petite Session is for capturing a handful of images only and should not be considered a substitute for a full session. Petite sessions are geared toward capturing a few images of your baby only due to the time constraints.
04. WITH THE PETITE COLLECTION DO I ALSO GET THE OTHER IMAGES AS WELL?
The Petite or Mini sessions include five selected images from your gallery. This session works pretty great for those on a budget only needing a few images for those photos to hang up and share. You do have the option of purchasing additional digital images from your online image gallery. Additional digital images are priced at $45 each, $200 for five, and $400 for twenty. The cost to purchase all of the digital images from your gallery is $500. Please note that this session is only available on Monday-Thursday and Holiday periods are restricted. Takes place at a South Lake Tahoe location only.
05. WILL YOU TRAVEL FOR OUR SESSION?
Absolutely! We are based out of South Lake Tahoe. Sessions on the East or West Shore in Lake Tahoe will be charged a $100 travel fee. North Lake Tahoe locations will be charged a $250 travel fee, and Truckee locations will be charged a $350 fee. Locations outside of the Lake Tahoe basin will be quoted depending on distance and travel requirements. Please note that in winter months travel may not be available due to road closures and is weather dependent.
06. CAN WE ADD PEOPLE TO OUR SESSION?
Absolutely! It is an additional $50 per person in addition to the selected session.
07. WHAT DO WE WEAR?
As a general rule we recommend wearing comfortable clothing in neutral colors without logos and heavy patterns. Baby should be dressed in neutrals as well. The least fussy outfits work best for changes.
08. WHAT ABOUT HOLIDAY SESSIONS?
Please note that the Petite/mini-sessions are not available during peak holiday periods and on actual holidays. Holiday periods are considered the week of Thanksgiving, Christmas week through January 1st, and the Fourth of July week. If wanting to book one of the digital collection options on an actual holiday day )i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, Easter, etc.) we charge an additional $150 surcharge on top of the session fee.
09. DO YOU BRING PROPS and POSE THE BABY??
We are lifestyle and candid photographers and do not over-pose or manipulate babies into difficult positions and setups. We tend to capture as they happen moments between you and your newborn without a lot of setup or direction. This lifestyle approach captures sweet, candid moments that you will cherish. We will, however, bring a basket that will help us capture those close-up newborn features and will also work to incorporate meaningful props that you have on hand if wanted.
10. HOW DO WE RECEIVE OUR IMAGES?
Your images will be lovingly edited before they are uploaded into a private online image gallery. There you will be able to view, share, and download high-resolution digital images.
11. HOW MANY IMAGES DO WE RECEIVE?
Your online image gallery will contain around 35-75 custom-edited images if choosing the collection of digital images and up to 20 when choosing a mini-session collection. The Day in the Life Collection will contain between 75-150 final images. This can vary with more images and does depend on how long of a session you choose. We cull through the entire session and narrow down your images to the best of the best so every image is print-ready.
12. WHEN DO WE GET OUR PHOTOS?
The final images take 2-3 weeks. Delivery dates change depending on the low/high season. We do not send “sneak peeks” in an effort to stay on task and deliver everyone’s gallery in a timely manner. The last thing we would want to do is rush over your images, just to get them done in a hurry. The memories we craft will be there for you in the years to come and please know that we are looking at each and every image and adjusting them to create something beautiful for you.
13. IS THERE ANY WAY TO RECEIVE MY IMAGES SOONER?
We understand that sometimes you need the images back in a hurry, so we offer a rush editing service for $150 to receive your images within one week from your session day.
14. WHAT EDITING DO YOU INCLUDE ON THE IMAGES?
We do basic editing and retouching to match our signature style but we do not alter our clients’ bodies or natural appearances in any way other than to smooth over newborns’ skin if necessary. Should you require any further retouching we charge $10-75 per image should you wish to have a few images altered further.
15. WHAT ABOUT FEEDING TIME?
It is helpful if you feed your baby before your photo session so they will be ready to sleep. Warm milk equals a happy, model-ready baby! Hungry babies wake up often and cry. Keep extra wipes, diapers, blankets, and trash bags nearby for quick cleanups. Naked babies do tend to have more accidents, so it’s a good idea to be ready. Newborns will need feeding breaks throughout the longer photo sessions, especially if they are a little fussy and upset. Feeding times also allow us to capture intimate nursing moments between mommy and baby, if you are comfortable with us being there.
15. WHAT ABOUT TEMPATURE?
Naked babies get cold. One of the more important tips for parents for a successful newborn photo session is keeping the baby warm. We suggest cranking up the temperature in the house to a comfortable 80 degrees about half an hour before your session starts. Space heaters work well too if you would prefer. The warmer temperature will hopefully help your newborn stay asleep and happy.
16. HOW DO I CONFIRM YOUR SERVICES?
We work on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once the non-refundable retainer of 50% is paid and the contract is signed, your session is firmly secured and we are officially booked! The rest of the payment is due two weeks before your session date. We handle all of our booking details online. Preferred payment types are via Zelle payments using the email [email protected] and ACH/e-checks, and credit card payments. Please note that credit card payments will incur a convenience fee of 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction. Please note that when booking the Just the Basics collection, the entire session fee will be due upon booking. We handle all of our payments and contracts online to make it convenient. Sadly we cannot hold dates for you without a booking retainer and a signed contract.
