An elopement is a perfect choice whether you want to explore with just the two of you, or you’re planning on having your closest family and friends present. We are big fans of choosing what feels good and authentic for your love story.
Our wedding was a small forest elopement to Tahoe long before we moved here and we still wouldn’t change a thing. It allowed us to truly embrace the moments and be fully present.
Our goal as your photographer is to document your love and genuine connection and for your overall experience to be nothing less than fabulous.

Answers to Our F.A.Q.’s
01. CAN YOU HELP US WITH A GREAT LOCATION?
We are familiar with a lot of beautiful locations with all kinds of scenic backdrops. We always recommend a weekday for elopement if at all possible to help avoid the weekend crowds. Please keep in mind that weddings may occur on many national forest land locations within the Lake Tahoe Basin based on National Forest policies. National forest lands are open to the public and are on a first-come, first-serve basis so we need to select a location that is not well-trafficked and will not cause a disruption to the public. Both Nevada and California State Parks such as Emerald Bay and Sand Harbor do have permit fees in place that need to be secured ahead of time. Once you have confirmed our services with a contract and retainer payment, we can help with suggesting location options. Please note however that we are not a planning service for elopements and as such do not offer a one-stop planning service.
02. WHICH COLLECTION WOULD BE A GOOD FIT FOR OUR ELOPEMENT?
The Simply Eloped Collection is great for one location only and for capturing images of your group and then couples photos afterward. We don’t recommend choosing it if you want to explore multiple as we are working within a limited timeframe. The Wanderlust Collection allows for more time to capture some images with family and friends and to explore more than one location if wanted. The Micro Wedding Collection is for those who wish to celebrate with their closest family and friends.
03. HOW MANY HOURS OF COVERAGE DO WE NEED?
The coverage on your elopement day is dependent on your schedule of events. If you only want ceremony coverage with a few photos afterward, then two hours should be sufficient. However, if you want to explore the beauty of Tahoe and get those epic landscape images we highly suggest going with the Wanderlust Collection which gives us more time to explore.
04. HOW MANY GUESTS CAN WE HAVE?
An elopement’s traditional definition is to “run away secretly to get married, especially without parental consent.” Therefore, eloping is to break wedding tradition norms and enjoy a much smaller celebration with just the two of you.
05. WILL YOU TRAVEL FOR OUR ELOPEMENT?
Absolutely! We are based out of South Lake Tahoe and Locations on the East or West Shore in Lake Tahoe will be charged a $100 travel fee. North Lake Tahoe locations will be charged a $250 travel fee, and Truckee locations will be charged a $350 fee. Locations outside of the Lake Tahoe basin will be quoted depending on distance and travel requirements.
06. WHY SHOULD WE CHOOSE YOU TO CAPTURE OUR ELOPEMENT?
Your images will be looked at and passed through the hands of generations to come. Not only do we take our jobs as memory keepers seriously, but we honestly LOVE what we do. When booking your elopement day photography with us, you are getting a seasoned husband and wife team who know what it is to plan an elopement and go through the process. Sandra also worked as an event planner so she understands and knows the process well from start to finish. Also with us, you are getting a guaranteed team of two professional photographers which is incredibly helpful as we work together seamlessly to capture all the moments from your special day.
07. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PHOTOGRAPHING ELOPEMENTS?
We captured our first wedding together way back in 2001 so you could say that we have quite a few years of experience as professional wedding and elopement photographers. Throughout the years we have captured hundreds of happy couples.
08. WHAT IS YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?
Our style is natural, documentary, and authentic. We aim to capture who you are as a couple and not put you into uncomfortable poses. We aim to capture the feel of your elopement as it is without forcing anything. Our goal is to capture moments as they unfold and the moments in between
09. WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS AN EMERGENCY AND YOU CAN’T MAKE IT TO OUR ELOPEMENT?
In the case of some higher force of nature, if either of us can’t make it for some reason, we have a network of additional photographers that we can call upon. All of the work is still edited by us for our timeless signature Blue Lotus look and feel. We have to say though that after photographing weddings for as long as we have, we have yet to not make it to one single event since 2001. It would literally have to be a life-or-death kind of situation to keep us from being present on your special day.
10. HOW DO WE RECEIVE OUR IMAGES?
Your images will be lovingly edited before they are uploaded into a private online image gallery. There you will be able to view, share, and download high-resolution digital images.
11. HOW MANY IMAGES DO WE RECEIVE?
Your online image gallery will contain around 50-150 custom-edited images depending on which collection you choose. If adding additional time your gallery will contain even more. We cull through the entire session and narrow down your images to the best of the best so every image is print-ready.
12. WHEN DO WE GET OUR PHOTOS?
We will send you some sneak peeks within one week of your elopement date. The final images take 6-8 weeks. Delivery dates change depending on the low/high season. The last thing we would want to do is rush over your images, just to get them done in a hurry. The memories we craft will be there for you in the years to come and please know that we are looking at each and every image and adjusting them to create something beautiful for you.
13. IS THERE ANY WAY TO RECEIVE MY IMAGES SOONER?
We understand how excited you are and that sometimes you need the images back in a hurry, so we offer a rush editing service for $250 to receive your images within two weeks of your elopement date.
14. WHAT EDITING DO YOU INCLUDE ON THE IMAGES?
We do basic editing and retouching to match our signature style but we do not alter our clients’ bodies or natural appearances in any way. We do not see your insecurities or what you think to be your flaws, all we see is your natural beauty, love, and happiness. We thoroughly encourage our clients to embrace their inner and outer beauty. We by no means want you to not look like yourself in your photos and do our best to show only the best and truest forms of yourselves. Should you require any further retouching we charge $10-75 per image should you wish to have a few images altered further.
15. CAN WE BRING OUR DOG?
Absolutely! We love dogs and have three of our own. Please bring a favorite toy, some treats, a leash, and doggie poop bags. Keep in mind though that when bringing your dog, we are limited to dog-friendly locations only.
15. CAN YOU GIVE US OTHER VENDOR RECOMMENDATIONS?
Absolutely! We are lucky to have worked with some of the best in the business and are happy to send over our recommendations once you have confirmed our services.
16. HOW DO I CONFIRM YOUR SERVICES?
We work on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once the retainer of 50% is paid and the contract is signed, your session is firmly secured and we are officially booked! The rest of the payment is due two weeks before your elopement date. We handle all of our booking details online. Preferred payment types are via Zelle payments using the email [email protected] and ACH/e-checks, and credit card payments. Please note that credit card payments will incur a convenience fee of 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction. We handle all of our payments and contracts online to make it convenient. Sadly we cannot hold dates for you without a booking retainer and a signed contract.
16. DO YOU HAVE BACKUP GEAR?
Yes, we always have multiple camera bodies, several lenses, and more memory cards than we need at all weddings. We shoot using Nikon professional bodies and have a large range of lenses ranging from a macro for those detailed ring shots, a telephoto lens for getting up closer, and up to a fish eye lens for capturing those extremely wide angles.

The next step is to send in the contact form below. Make sure to select the preferred date, collection choice, location preferences, and details on who will be at your elopement. All of the booking details are handled online via our client portal. A completed contract along with an initial non-refundable retainer fee of half of your collection total is required to secure your session date and time.
