Jonathan + Trinety { SF Presidio Wedding }

Trinety & Jonathan were referred to us through a previous bride and groom whose wedding we photographed a few years back. Upon our initial meeting with them, it became clear that not only did we get along famously, but we also enjoyed a common interest: beer. Jonathan in fact has done some home brewing, of which we have yet to explore….just give us time:0) Needless to say, these two had such a fun wedding that was so laid back…many smiles throughout the day, even when some things went awry.

The ceremony was in the heart of the SF Presidio at the Main Post Chapel. Such a cute, little quaint church.

Notice the Cal Berkeley garter…Jonathan played on the football team at Cal. The garter was most appropriate…and who knew how hot it would get in the room literally once Trinety put it on.

The fire alarm went off almost at the same exact moment that Trinety put the garter on. I am shooting photos and one of the bridesmaids is like “is that the fire alarm?” We all had to be ushered outside in a quick hurry…

I L♡VE how calm and go with the flow both Trinety and Jonathan are here…given that fact that the fire crew had to go through the church to give an all clear before they could get married.

The ceremony did happen amidst the fire alarm chaos and they said their vows without any further delay.

The new Mr. and Mrs.

We took advantage of the front of the church’s surroundings for a mini session of our bride and groom.

We stopped over at the Palace of Fine Arts for another session before the reception. The bridal party was elegant in the classic black and white with red details.

The guys all played football at Cal Berkeley…only appropriate to act out the lineup.

Nothing beats a sexy pair of red shoes….well maybe chocolate while wearing the red shoes:0)

It was a chilly day in SF but the bridal party still was rockin it…even though the ladies were freezing and in the guys jackets by this point.

Not to change subject but again back to the red shoes….please notice the hearts on the soles…so cute!

We really enjoyed photographing Trinety and Jonathan. Such fun personalities and so easy to work with. Love these two shots…just beautiful.

The water and all of the elements really came together to make for photo magic…yes magic happens when everything aligns:0)

Trinety wanted to do a running jump into Jonathan’s arms…I don’t know what is more impressive….

the fact that she could run in heels of this caliber or that she could jump in heels of this caliber.

The reception was held right on the water at the Fort Mason Conference Center.

Jonathan’s parents actually made all of the favors…hand made plates for all of the guests to take home….how cool is that!

The room had a really nice ambiance to it.

They had pizza that was out of this world for dinner and in lieu of a cake they had a tower of amazing cookies. Making me hungry.

Love this mini cable car replica…

Too funny:0) No holds barred.

I was loving the lighting effects on the ceilings….almost like fireworks.

We had such a fabulous time…it was hard to leave…almost had to literally drag Josh out of the reception so we could make the drive home to pick up the kiddos from the sitters:0

Congratulations you two!!

As always comments are always encouraged and appreciated.

September 3, 2010 - 10:04 am Lauren Davis - LOVE the one outside the chapel... and the shoes? SO hot, I agree! And what a great idea to make plates as your favor - too sweet!

♡ Nick + Jocelyn { Callippe Golf Course } ♡

A few weeks back Nick and Jocelyn said ” I do”.  Throughout the day of photographing, it was so apparent by the way these two looked at each other, that they are absolutely and without a doubt, madly in love. The ceremony took place at Cornerstone Church in Livermore, CA. The reception was held at Callippe Golf Course in Pleasanton, CA. What a fantastic day spent with an amazing couple and their family and friends…..even ran into a groomsmen from a wedding we photographed last summer…small world meetings…gotta love em..serendipity for sure:0)

September 3, 2010 - 9:36 am Lauren Davis - that comment was for the newest post, but somehow it ended on this one... ooops! delete delete!

September 3, 2010 - 9:35 am Lauren Davis - LOVE the one outside the chapel... and the shoes? SO hot, I agree! And what a great idea to make plates as your favor - too sweet!

August 24, 2010 - 6:07 pm Blue Lotus Photography - Thank you Jenny:0)

August 19, 2010 - 11:39 pm Jenny Torbeck - Wow, love the one with the shadow on the grass. You guys are so creative!

Jeremy + Kathy {Wente Vineyards}

Jeremy met Kathy near a fax machine in an accounting office and their humble office meeting became a great love story that defied all office appliances:0) O.K I am feeling a bit silly today…Seriously though…the way these two look at each other is true telling just how much they are in L♡VE. We have had an AMAZING time getting to know these two….from meeting them, to their engagement session in San Francisco and then at their very recent wedding at Wente Vineyards. They have been so easy to work with and our cameras have had their own love affair with them….They both photograph beautifully! So without any further adieu, I introduce Jeremy & Kathy’s sneak peak from their blissful wedding day.

We always love photographing at the Rose Hotel in Pleasanton. Not only is it quaint while being elegant, it is also great for moody and dramatic lighting…plus this staircase…need I say more??

Their ceremony took place at St. Charles Borromeo in Livermore, CA and the inside of the chruch had gorgeous natural light and a really modern elegant feel.

I just adore the contrast and color in the painting behind Kathy and her father as he walks her in.

After the ceremony, we headed to Downtown Livermore to take advantage of some little nooks and crannys before heading over to Wente.

The bridal party were all super fun and so helpful. Thanks everyone!!

Kathy you are so beautiful. Just stunning…you look like a model here no joking around.

Jeremy looks so laid back and  casual here….super handsome. Love his expression.

Ginger at the Flowerhouse never fails to impress on her florals. Great color.

Had to sneak in some photos in the vineyards once we arrived to Wente. The lighting was being so nice to us…thank you sunshine!

They are stunning in this series of photos…perfect!

We had taken red balloons into San Francisco for their engagement shoot, so I figured it was only the right thing to do to bring some into the vineyard….

after seeing these shots, I am SO glad I did.

Kathly looks like a model in a Cover Girl ad here….

Josh is one of the most limber and agile climbers….I however am scared of heights so left him to do the climbing to the top of the Wente roof to get this shot….super glad he was willing.

My angle of the Jeremy and Kathy’s first dance. Can’t even express how happy I was to see the paper lanterns when we arrived….I have long been waiting to see this at a wedding.

Josh’s angle of the first dance….we have a bit of “healthy” competition to see who can get the best shot. It

always amazes me to see in the end that maybe they aren’t better then the other’s but more so we combine our photography style to complement each other perfectly:0)

I’m lovin the expressions on their faces here….he.he.

and they danced the night away:0)

As always, we’d love to hear from you. Comments and feedback are always appreciated.

August 11, 2010 - 1:17 pm Blue Lotus Photography - Thank you lovely:0)

August 10, 2010 - 4:05 pm lori - beautiful! of course! as always!!!

July 19, 2010 - 9:16 pm Blue Lotus Photography - Thanks Lauren:0) Well the story behind the flash is an ancient Chinese secret....he...he...jk. That cake shot isn't shot with a flash. It is photographed at a low shutter with available light.

July 19, 2010 - 4:10 pm Lauren - Love the first dance photo with those lanterns above! and the cake photo - how's you get the flash in there without it completely whitening the cake in the dark? Awesome.

The 4th of July in South Lake Tahoe

Sandra and I always seem like we are spending our holiday in South Lake Tahoe.

This 4th we expected nothing else.  We had heard of the largest synchronize fireworks  show west of the Mississippi.

We had to take the whole family so we deceided camping would be the perfect way to experience summer nights at the lake.

These photos below are from Fallen Leaf Lake.  For those who have been by our place you might recognize it from the 30×40 Gallery Print in our living room.

Kids Loving Life.  We really weren’t sure how much work Julien was going to be.  Things couldn’t of been better though.  He ran strong with the help from his sister.

Off to the lake for the fireworks show.

We sat at Regan Beach making friends and taking about wonderful Tahoe.

The show was electrifying.  Julien’s first.  All of us were totally entertained.  Someone brought the tunes for the music.

There were fireworks going off all around the Lake.  There must have been 4 other towns you could see.

We retired kind of late most nights.  With stories that will satisfy generations of campers.

While on high alert from the rangers about bears and some moron gutting a fish at the campsite we happened to notice a black bear walking through the next site over.

We jammed like tourist right into our car for half an hour until one of us could convince the other it was safe to go out.

I lost the battle.  Go figure.

With my trusty flashlight I ventured into the darkness.  Ready to shit my pants at any noise, I somehow made it and checked out the signs.

I got the fire out the children safe in the tent.  Only to hear: “I have to go to the bathroom from Sandra and Madisen.”

Somehow they made it.  I stood in the center of the campsite hoping for their safe return.  It had to be one of the longest 5 minutes ever.  I could hear Sandra crashing and banging in the restroom.

We must have awoken all around us.

When we awoke the next morning we were talking to the campers in the next site and their oldest girl had seen the bear walk right by her friends dad tent.

She acted like it was no big deal.  How brave?  or just an experienced camper?  You be the judge.

This is the 2007 Angora Fire lookout spot.  It’s amasing how so much devastation can in a few years regenerate so much life and beauty.

This spot really showcases the area well.  On one side is the Lake Tahoe and Fallen Leaf Lake.  The others side is the Angora National Forest.

Here we are totally mesmerized.  We’ve been to some really remote and beautiful spots but this one takes it.  It was totally beautiful there.

Dogs could swim plus a little beach to chill all afternoon.

We’ll miss you Tahoe.

Trademark

Well after a year of waiting patiently the trademark is finally approved.  It was starting to get crazy how many are others were popping up.

July 14, 2010 - 6:07 pm Sandy Tomkins - Congratulations!!!! What a deal....You are finally done with the copy cats!!!

Kurt + Gurminder {V. Sattui Wedding}

We rolled into downtown Napa to meet up with our bride Gurminder at the Hotel Avia.  The sun was out and the weather was absolutely perfect. A very great start to a lovely day. If you haven’t been to the Hotel Avia, we surely suggest you check it out if you are in Napa for a little R&R and wine tasting. The hotel was very plush and the lighting was just right.

I feel almost out of words for this wedding as lovely seems the only way to describe it…I will let the photos do the talking(well most of it anyway)

Red peep toe shoes…very nice:0) I have a thing for red shoes. They have a lot of “muchness”.

Our lovely bride puts on the finishing touches.

The groomsmen did a Conga Dance all the way from their hotel room and into the ladies room to bring Gurminder a token of Kurt’s affection.

Side-note:  As a little girl, I used to do the conga dance all the way up the stairs in a line with my grandmother, brother and cousin on our way to do some brushing of our teeth. The conga line brought me back to that very moment when the guys entered the room.

Gotta love nostalgia.

Gurminder’s reaction to the gift=priceless. Classic pearls no one can resist. Kurt chose well.

I am in love with Gurminder’s dress. She looked amazing in it!

The light cascading into the room as we left to photograph the ladies….gorgeous…exclamation point….

You are stunning Gurminder and our cameras you to pieces.

Seriously adore the contrast withe the henna and the softness of the bouquet. The flowers smelled as lovely as they looked.

WOW. BOOM. BAM! Beautiful lady.

Pretty girls….

Hello pink sun flare…caught this moment of the guests mingling as they arrived and I just love sun flares….pink to boot!

The infatuation with sun flares continues for an impromptu shot of the guys.

The ceremony site at V. Sattui is so pretty. Super grand entrance for sure

I love how it appears as if Gurminder is coming in over a horizon….almost like a mirage.

Words don’t describe.

WooHoo!

The bridal party seriously rocked! They were all so fun and easy to work with.

Yes the men were rocking the red penny loafers and fantastical socks. Yes I had to make up a word to describe these socks.

The mini appetizers were so darn cute…these little sliders with fries…too bad we were too busy photographing to enjoy…Yum!

Sneaking off to the vineyard with Kurt and Gurminder was so well worth it. The light was lovin them and we were lovin the light.

Little did we know that this sign held a special meaning to Kurt and Gurminder….made us happy to have such serendipity.

The room was set up so beautifully. The ambiance and warmth were amazing!

First dance as husband and wife..

Feelin the love

This group was cutting the rug….wait let me rephrase…they were tearing it up!

Felt like we were on vacation and just happening to capture a moment of two lovers dancing in the villa.

and they lived happily ever after….

As always we’d love to hear from you. Comments and feedback are always appreciated

Rory + Lauren: A Wente Vineyards Wedding: Part 2 ♡♡♡

Hello beautiful world and all the beautiful people in it. I believe we promised part 2 to Lauren and Rory’s amazing wedding at Wente Vineyards last week….sorry for the delay in getting the rest of these posted…We have had a hard time narrowing down the sneak peeks…and in the full swing now of what us”wedding professionals” call wedding season we’ve found it hard to get the time to put these up…..especially since I am a Virgo by nature and birth and alas do not like to do anything not all the way…So without any delay please welcome the final chapter of their wedding day photography, but certainly only the beginning of Lauren and Rory’s wedded bliss…

Allow us to introduce the beautiful, talented and oh so fun…bridal party! Yes they really were that much fun…more so than a barrel of monkeys.

The ladies in the bridal party really looked graceful when jumping…even in heels…they all made the jump look effortless….more so a glide and it appears as if they are levitating. David Blaine “eat your heart out”. Oh still capture… how we love thee.

Throwing petals never gets tired or old for us…looks way too pretty not to do.

So soft and pretty the way the tables had individual flowers of which the tables were named..

I liked it so much I had to put 2 photos in of it….how I never grow old of seeing the pretty little details that make up a wedding day…simply lovely.

The favors were mason jars of homemade apple butter made from Rory’s grandmother’s recipe. Their mothers made all of this apple butter as tokens for their guests…Gotta love moms..so endearing.

The silver seal is actually made from a ring that Rory’s dad made…so cool that he used to make jewelry and so the fantastic idea to use this on the favors…LOVE IT!

On the inside of the hang tag read the words “spread love”. Indeed LOVE was in full attendance this day and dressed to the nines.

The guest book was strips of fabric that Rory’s mom cut out for the guests to sign. After the wedding she is going to cut the strips into different sizes to make a wedding quilt for Rory & Lauren by combining the black and white fabric. Such a sweet idea.

They had a gallery of hanging wedding photos of their family and friends.

The Sunday brunch was held on the Wente Vineyards lawn.

The wedding cake was made from Lauren’s grandmother’s secret carrot cake recipe. This was Lauren and Rory’s way of making her part of their day as she couldn’t make it to the wedding…it really tasted as good as it looked.

Some saxophone for a Sunday brunch. So appropriate and necessary.

We took a golf cart for a spin and captured some stunning scenery and stole some beauty.

In the end…all you need is L♡VE

As always, we’d love to hear from you.

June 23, 2010 - 1:31 pm Blue Lotus Photography - Thanks so much you☺ It really means a lot to us to hear that you're happy with the photos! The Brady Bunch is exactly where I was thinking with that first layout...he...he...

June 22, 2010 - 10:07 pm Lauren - Oh oh oh! So so so happy. I love them, I can't WAIT to see the rest. :-) Especially the one of us in the sea of grape vines... that's awesome! And then the first one - Rory said it reminded him of the brady bunch :-) haha me too. And thank you for getting all those details shots... they turned out great!
